Looking into the importance of play I discovered that the reason adults do not engage in such activities is because they are afraid of looking silly or appearing to be childish. By creating a smaller, more intimate space in which all the inhabitants are aware that play is a common understanding then I will be able to encourage adults to relax by partaking in playful activities.
Looking again into the play cubes you generally find in waiting rooms I have started making some sketch models and using mark making to explore how to manipulate this base shape to create an interactive space.
I want to keep my design as simple as possible to contrast with the hectic life of the users. It should be clear and easy to use with simple assembly and storage possibilities. Researching transport devices it is looking likely that a van rental system would be the best bet to begin with as the space would realistically only need to be moved once a month to different universities or perhaps even less regularly.
Moving on from here I am going to begin creating the model on sketch up in order to experiment more easily with the final shape of the space and the components involved.
