At first we were asked to split up into three groups in which we began to brainstorm about what things – no matter how obscure, had a substantial impact upon our general mood and wellbeing. This task was a good way to get everyone to loosen up and start the ideas flowing. After about 30 minutes of sharing ideas we collectively condensed the findings into 8 titles which were then placed around the room and groups were formed at each. I decided to help tackle the impact of health on your wellbeing as it is a broad and interesting subject.
We spent the remainder of the afternoon discussing any physical and mental health issues we were aware of before splitting into smaller teams and researching this further. After looking at some websites and journals we gathered a wide range of information along with a better understanding of the problem we were dealing with. After a lengthy discussion we decided to focus on the main issue of how childhood bullying can result in mental illness later in life – an issue we all found interesting as it is something we can relate to on a personal basis.
Now that we have our focus we are going to hit the ground running tomorrow by developing a creative means in which to tackle this issue in a fun yet educational way!
